LOCAL RULES

i Out of Bounds (Rule 18)
a) Beyond any boundary hedge or dyke.
b) Beyond any white stakes on the course perimeter.
c) Below fairway level in boundary dykes.
d) The patio, paved area and concrete paths around the clubhouse including the grassed area in front of the patio and behind a straight line drawn between the white posts.
e) Beyond any white stakes defining the waste treatment plant.
f) The car park and pebbled areas near the pro shop and clubhouse.

ii Obstructions (Rule 16)
a) If a tree marked by stakes or guards interferes with a player’s stance or the area of his intended swing, the ball must be lifted, without penalty, and dropped in accordance with the procedure prescribed in Rule 14.3.  The ball may be cleaned when so lifted.
b) All man made pathways are Immovable Obstructions and relief may be taken under Rule 16.1.

iii Ground Under Repair
a) Cracks formed by drought in the General Area are to be treated as Ground Under Repair.
b) Drainage works on a closely mowed area within the General Area are to be treated as Ground Under Repair and relief may be taken under Rule 16.1.
c) The Winter/Temporary greens are to be treated as Ground Under Repair and play is prohibited from them when the main greens are in play. When winter/temporary greens are in play the main greens are deemed Ground Under Repair and play is prohibited from them for their protection. Relief is to be taken under Rule 16.1.
d) Any other area marked by white paint or by notice is Ground Under Repair and relief may be taken under Rule 16.1.

iv Penalty Areas (Rule 17)
Penalty Areas are marked by either a) yellow stakes or lines, or b) red stakes or lines.

v Overhead Power Lines
If a ball strikes an overhead power line, the stroke must be cancelled and replayed from the same point without penalty If the ball is not immediately recoverable another ball may be substituted.  

vi Fixed Sprinkler Heads and Drain Covers
All fixed sprinkler heads and drain covers situated by the greens are designated as Immovable Obstructions. Relief from interference by an immovable obstruction may be obtained under Rule 16.1. In addition, if the ball lies off the putting green but not in a penalty area and an immovable obstruction on or within two club lengths of the putting green and within two club lengths of the ball intervenes on the line of play between the player and the hole, the player may take relief as follows:
The ball may be lifted and dropped at the nearest point where the ball lay that (a) is not nearer the hole, and (b) avoids intervention and (c) is not in a penalty area.  The ball may be cleaned when lifted.

vii Where a ball comes to rest on any bridge or pathway within and above a yellow or red penalty area the ball is in the penalty area as the margins of the penalty area are deemed to extend vertically upwards. The bridge or pathway is an immovable obstruction but there is no relief without penalty from an immovable obstruction when the ball lies in or touches a penalty area. The player may either play the ball as it lies without penalty or play a ball from outside the penalty area by taking penalty relief under rule 17.1 or 17.2.

viii The seashell flower bed at the rear and left-hand side of the first and tenth tees and rear of the seventh tee are part of the General Area. However the railings and fencing are Immovable Obstructions and relief may be taken in accordance with Rule 16.1

ix         For the duration of Winter Rules a ball lying on a closely-mown part of the General Area may be lifted without penalty and cleaned.  Before lifting the ball, the player must mark its position. Having lifted the ball, the player must place it on a spot within six inches of and not nearer the hole than where it originally lay, that is not in a penalty area and not on a putting green.
A player must lift and replace the ball in accordance with Rules 14.1 and   14.2.

x Red Penalty Area to the right of the 9th/18th Green/Fairway
If a ball comes to rest within the Penalty Area to the right of the 9th/18th   putting green, designated by the Red Posts and is between the two metal bridges crossing the Penalty Area, it must be dropped in the designated dropping zone in accordance with Rule 17.1. If a ball comes to rest in the Penalty Area, or is deemed to have crossed the margin of the Penalty Area between the tee and the first metal bridge, the player is to proceed in accordance with Rule 17.1.

xi Aeration Holes
A ball which comes to rest in or on an aeration hole within the closely mown part of the General Area may be lifted without penalty, cleaned and dropped, as near as possible to the spot where it lay but not nearer the hole.
On the putting green, the player shall place the ball at the nearest spot not nearer the hole which avoids such situation.

xii Distance Measuring Devices (Rule 4.3a)
A player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance only. If, during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g. gradient, wind speed, temperature, etc.) the player is in breach of Rule 4.3a for which the penalty is disqualification, regardless of whether any such additional function is actually used.

PENALTY FOR BREACH OF LOCAL RULE Match Play – Loss of hole;
Stroke Play – Two strokes.
