2nd Round Grace Norman

The ladies played in the 2nd round of the Grace Norman competition at Lakeside Lodge on Saturday 15th June. We had all sorts of weather during the day, brilliant sunshine, strong winds, and a few showers but this did not interfere with a great, good spirited match against Lakeside Lodge.

The result was 2 matches to 1 in favour of Lakeside.

We would like to wish them good luck in the next round which are the semi-finals. I would love to thank my ladies for all their support in the county matches.

Reynolds Rosebowl

The Seniors and ladies played for the Reynolds Rosebowl trophy on Tuesday 30th April.

The day started off with fog and mist but turned into a glorious sunny day. 12 pairs took part of which was a great get together of seniors and ladies.

The winners were Alan Moody & Pam Hawes with a score of 35 points, second was Roger Watts & Georgie Millett with a core of 33 points who beat on count back John Farnsworth & Fiona Wood. The day ended with a great meal in the clubhouse.

Thanks to all who took part.

Great Win for Ladies in the Grace Norman County Competition 1st Round

The Ladies played the first round of the Grace Norman Competition drawn against Saffron Walden at home. The weather forecast was not looking great but it turned into a very nice afternoon. A few showers but nothing major.

We had 3 pairs (Sandra Russell, Lady Captain and Jean Alterton, Emma Norman Lady Vice Captain and Gail Arnold & Penny Gilbert and Fiona Wood).

The games were very well matched and we were delighted to win 2 1/2 games to a 1/2. We now look forward to the next round which we believe is Lakeside Lodge away. I, Lady Captain would like to thank my team so much for a great win.

Ladies Results March

March ladies had their first medal of the season on Tuesday 19th March.  The conditions were good and we had 11 ladies taking part and the winner with nett 80 was Valerie Cook.  Well done Valerie.

March Ladies had their first 4BBB friendly of the season against Brampton Park on Thursday 21st March. 6 pairs took part in which turned out to be a fantastic day weather wise.  The course was looking stunningly good for this time of year which would certainly be a great indication of the way it will look in the full swing of spring and summer.

The matches were well balanced handicap wise and made the matches very tight all the way through.  The result of the day was a well deserved 2 games to 1 to Brampton Park.  The day was completed by a lovely meal in the clubhouse.

Ladies 9 hole stableford on Sunday 24th March was won by Viv Snushall with 16pts on count back from Penny Gilbert with also 16pts and 3rd Pam Wallis with 13pts.

Ladies Annual Coffee Morning

The Ladies held their annual coffee morning to kick start the golfing season on Tuesday 5th March where Lady Captain Sandra Russell spoke about her charity for the year which is the Lullaby Trust www.lullabytrust.org.uk.

The Lullaby Trust raises awareness of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), provides expert advice on safer sleep.

To raise money for this charity there was a cake sale, raffle and other fund raising events and the total raised  on the day for the charity was £152.

Thanks to all the lady members who contributed and supported this event. We are now looking forward to the start of the season and a good golfing year.
