As many of you are aware I have been away from the Club for some time. My daughter Michelle had been on the Liver transplant register for a while and was called into Kings College Hospital London for a transplant. This was carried out on 24th May, unfortunately after only a few hours this was rejected by her body and a further transplant was carried out. Michelle was in an induced coma for just over five weeks. During this period she had a further four major operations to save her life. On Saturday 30th June she lost the fight for her life (she was only 37). I would like to thank the many members who have messaged, phoned or sent to Sandra and myself cards of Condolence. Your thoughts are very much appreciated. I would like to make special mention of our Vice Captain Alan Jones for the way he has taken over and carried the club forward. (I will reciprocate next year I promise), I would also like to thank the members who have helped Alan by volunteering to play in our club matches and keeping our good name within the area for fulfilling our fixtures. I am wanting very much to return to playing and being amongst you all as soon as I feel able.
Mick

In windy and difficult conditions the weekend proved more than a match for most golfers competing in March Golf Clubs Men's club championship. Saturday was the qualifying round with those who survived the tough conditions going forward to play in the final round on Sunday. Sundays tricky pin positions once again testing everybody's patience and golfing skills. Club champion of the year was once again Gary Neugabauer who survived a very spirited challenge from Lewis Hearn to pip him to the title by one shot. Lewis's consolation was that he deservedly and comfortably won the Club's Handicap Championship playing both days under his handicap.

The increasing popular 9 hole monthly mixed fun event and barbeque was contested on a beautiful evening on Friday 1st June. 38 players played 9 holes of stableford with many more coming for the barbeque.

The ladies prize was scooped by club secretary Michal Simpson and the spot prize of "nearest in two" at the 14th hole was Brian Curran. The mens' top place went to James Campbell. He had a super round with a brand newset of irons that literally were delivered just a few moments before he teed off!! Runners up spots on 20 points apiece were Simon Moore and "new member"Lewis Rogers. Lewis came back from a "eurovision" start on the first hole to amass his score, whilst a holed 20 foot putt for eagle (did you hear about it?) on the par five thirteenth hole helped Simon consolidate his total. Well done.
