July 2019 Results

Old Nene Friendly Ladies

The ladies played a friendly against Old Nene at home on Tuesday 9th July.  The weather was great and it was a really friendly day and the result ended as a half.

The Grannies and Non Grannies Trophies

The ladies played the Grannies/Non Grannies trophy competitions on Thursday 11th July.  A wonderful warm sunny day which was enriched for Carolyn Morton who not only won  with a nett 73 the Grannies trophy but also managed to get a Hole in One on the 15th.
Well done Carolyn. In second place was Sandra Russell with a nett 75 and in 3rd was Pam Wallis with nett 76.  The winner of the Non Grannies trophy was Valerie Cook with 27 points.

Medal Winner

The Ladies played in the Sunday Medal on 14th July.  The winner was Gail Johnson with nett 86, in second place Jo Rowlett with nett 87.

Emma is Single NOW!

On the 16th July the ladies played for the Garthwaite Cup.  The winner was Lady Vice Captain Emma Norman with nett 74 (another fantastic win for Emma) bringing her handicap now to 9.  Well done Emma.  In second place was Jo Rowlett with nett 79 and 3rd place Carolyn Morton with nett 80.

Forrester Triumphs in Papworth Hospital Cup

The seniors played The Papworth Hospital Cup on Wednesday 17th July.  The winner with 40 points was Les Forrester, in 2nd place was Garry Brin (Seniors Captain) also with 40 points and 3rd place went to Paul Goddard with 39 points. Thank you all for helping us to make this event so successful. As a result of your generosity we raised the sum of £405.00 for the Papworth Hospital Charity. We had eighteen participants each donating £12.50, plus donations of £40.00 from non playing members with the balance of £140.00 being made up from the raffle. (Thank you all for your generous donation of prizes.) The par three competition was won by Fred Gordon with a highly commendable 15 points.

Mixed Friendly Win Over St Ives

A Mixed friendly against St Ives was played on Sunday 21st July with 4 pairs taking part.  The match started with a breakfast for all the players in the clubhouse after which the 4 pairs battled a very close match in great sunny weather conditions.   March won the match overall with 2 1/2 games to 1 1/2 games.

June 2019 Results

Ladies Members and Friends Day

The ladies held the Members and Friends day on Tuesday 18th June.  Although the weather forecast was not favourable for the day we did manage to get away with not getting drenched.  28 ladies took part from March, Girton, Hunstanton, Dereham, Lakeside and St Ives and it was a very enjoyable day.  The nearest the pin on 2nd/11th was won by Maria Fox from Dereham, nearest the pin on 6th/15th was won by Aly Wise from Hunstanton and nearest the line was won by Gail Johnson from March.  The team just beaten in 2nd place by 1 shot with 78 points was Brenda Softley, Jo Rowlett, (March) & Teresa Layton & Aly Wise from Hunstanton.  The winners were Pam Hawes, Georgie Millett (March) & Sandi Carrington & Angela Storey from St Ives with 79 points.  A great day ended by a lovely meal in the
clubhouse.

Dunham Cup

The Ladies played in The Dunham Cup on Thursday 20th June.  Emma Norman was the winner going out in 49 and coming in with 42 and scoring 4 pars ending with a nett 79.  In second place was Pam Hawes with nett 82 and in 3rd place Pam Wallis with nett 85.

Presidents Day

The Presidents Day was held on Sunday 23rd June which was glorious sunny day. 36 men and 7 ladies took part in an individual stableford competition throughout the day.  The nearest the pin on the 9th/18th for the men was won by Gary Neugebauer.  Nearest the pin on 6th/15th for the ladies was won by Jo Rowlett.
The mens competition was won by Peter Coventry with 37 points beating Sean Edwards in 2nd place also with 37 points and 3rd was Stephen Campbell with 36 points.

The winner of the ladies was Emma Norman with a score of 40 points, 2nd was Jo Rowlett with 30 points and in 3rd place Sandra Russell with 26 points.
A great day was had by all and finished with a meal and presentation of prizes by the President Richard Cannall in the clubhouse

Huit Shield Part Deux

Round 2 of the Huit Shield qualifier was held on Sunday 12th May in very much more benign conditions compared with the gales experienced during Round 1 on 27th April.

Round of the day was that of Gary Neugebaeur with a gross score of 74 with Andrew Parsonage second on 81.

The eight lowest gross scorers will go forward to the knockout stages and it is no surprise that six of the contestants will come from Sunday’s competition.

Volunteer Project Clearing the Klargester

So, the seniors as promised have carried out the next Volunteer project.  Everyday we see the course and its surroundings improving … Many thanks for all your help.

I really appreciate each and everyones help and support to ensure our Golf Club is the best 9 hole in the County.
