Garys monthly chatter box Jan and Feb

Well all I can say is “God bless global warming!”. Am I allowed to say that? Oops.

Okay, well what I mean is that the weather and course have been pretty good recently and us “recycled teenagers” have been turning out in force with definite regularity and enthusiasm. Firstly I must give a shout out to one of our most charismatic seniors who is out of action and residing in Kings Lynn hospital. We all know of his illness and pray he makes a full recovery. We also have another couple of our fellow golfers who are experiencing some life discomfort and again want you to know we are all here for you.

If any of you out there are 55+ and want a midweek game, just make sure you are down the club Monday, Wednesday or Friday at the unearthly hour of 7.45 am. You will be met with open arms by many of us, just forgive the one or two “walking zombies” (inc the club pro) at that time of the day!

These two “Turkish Delights” are always present at our Seniors Open and when they’ve finished playing in the cold weather of Turkey, they are sure to be golfing with us again.

I’ve got a seniors away day planned on the 14th June already and the Seniors Open 23rd August is all ready receiving many entries from other clubs. Don’t miss out, just go and register with the resident zombie asap please. The first quiz I ran at the end of January seemed successful. I received some great feedback albeit one, and the next one is scheduled for a 7pm start on Wednesday 27th March. Teams of four again, £12 per team with prizes and nibbles.

Wish us luck in our first match of the year in a CAGU knockout against Meridian on the 22nd March. Other results from the last month have seen some electrifying scores with cries of “bandit” being shouted with monotonous regularity. Finally a welcome to our new members Gary Tinnion and Chris Cowell, who join our club and section.

30/1/19 Winter Eclectic, 1st Darrell Ladds 46 points, 2nd Alan Hall 45 points, 3rd Danny Daniel 44 points

6/2/19 Winter Medal, 1st Roger Watts 67, 2nd Derek Wisbey 70, 3rd Paul Wood 70

13/2/19 Winter Electic, 1st Paul Wood, 2nd John Farnsworth, 3rd Paul Goddard

What’s Blue been up to?

aerating the tees at march golf club

We’ve already seen the work start on the bunkers from an earlier post, now Blue is starting on the tees.  You’ll see over the next week or so, weather depending lots of work been carried out on the tee boxes, moss removal, aeration and some minor levelling.

We have our next Volunteer session on this coming Sunday 3rd March … please can you pop your name up on the sheet on the noticeboard, with your help we can support Blue and really make a difference to our fairways for the coming season.

Together we can make our vision come true the “Gem in the Fen” being the best 9 hole course in the area!
